My Last Day at Home

Updated: Dec 23, 2024

I was willing to give myself the opportunity to sleep late. No chance. Like a kid on Christmas, I was wide awake with anticipation. I have about 4 hours of work and then no more more work for more than 100 days.

Bags are packed and I'm ready to go. I decided to play tennis this afternoon as the first activity on my sabbatical.

I then have some dear friends I am meeting for dinner in Bridgeport. My sober brothers. I am so lucky to be part of a such a loving and supportive group of sober brothers and sisters. One of the great gifts of travel if you are sober, is that there is a community of people waiting for you with open arms no matter where on earth you go. Finding connection when you travel solo is always important. Whether its playing tennis, attending recovery meetings, meeting interesting and attractive guys, connecting is key to getting the most out of the experience.

I guess this would be a good time to admit my crush on Paul Hogan when I was younger. While its is not expected as part of this journey, lets just say its about damn time for me to meet the next Mr. Right. I'll be taking auditions over the next 100+ days in Australia, New Zealand, Spain and Africa. Come to think of it, I kinda married a guy that looked like Paul Hogan. Speaking of that guy, may your spirit follow me throughout my journey. You would have loved this!!!

Anyways, it's time for me finish work, finish packing, get the house ready for guests and say goodbye to friends and neighbors and then get going!!
