Taking a break

Updated: Dec 6, 2024

A good place to start is to explain why I wanted a sabbatical. I’m burnt out from work. My ability to perform at a high level is only consistent at very small increments. I go into phases of just not caring too often. I have been working for a great company and unfortunately they are not getting the best out of me at present. That is why I need a break.

I have also been through a lot. The last 10 years of my life have been filled with devastating loss, ongoing company transitions, personal struggles, the birth of new passions, and a surprising lack of partnership.

Over the past 5 years I was planning on taking a year off. Due to some false promises by executives at my last company, I thought this would be a very achievable goal. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The CEO sure got his money, and the rest of us got screwed.

So I have decided to be true to myself and start my journey of travel and self discovery. Who am I? A 55 year old man, who loves tennis, travel and men. And for the next 3.5 months I get the opportunity to explore what I want. So here I am getting ready to travel to Australia, New Zealand, Spain and South Africa.

Its time to fill myself with experiences that will last my lifetime, and maybe, just maybe meet Mr. Right or Mr. RightNow along the way.

Oh, I also get to play 4 tennis tournaments along the way.
