Up in The Heavens, Down to the Sea, and a Waterfall to top it off

Such an amazing day. Mother Nature bestowed a gift of a clear morning so I could fly around Mt. Cook in a helicopter, an land on a glacier to play on the ice. This was a great experience. Flying in a copter is incredible. The sense of movement is like no other. The feeling of going straight up off the ground is unsettling at first. What a glorious view from up above.

After the ride I took a few moments to settle and had a great flat white coffee before a set out on a very long ride. The ride is like Big Sur with magical views around every corner. The road brought me from the mountains to the sea. Here I stopped at a beach where you can see penguins in the spring. Unfortunately, this is late summer, and no penguins were found. But my reward was a walk along the beach for 30 minutes ( the beach would take hours and hours to walk, its that big) without another person in sight.
I have been good company for myself during the trip. I do feel alone, but hardly ever feel lonely. I have been thinking of making some pretty big changes in my life and this has forced me to think through some of the possibilities. I am not sure I want to stay in the US. I’m not sure I want to return to my career. But I also love my life and not sure I want to move away from my friends and family.
After the beach I decided to join my recovery group remotely and it felt so good to see, hear and connect with my brothers and sisters in recovery. What a gift that zoom meetings provide for those than cannot get to meetings in person.
After a few more roadside stops, my last big stop for the day was at Thunder Creek Falls. Take a moment to watch the video and feel the sense of awe.
I finished the day driving into the beautiful and upscale town of Wanaka, situated on Lake Wanaka. I had a wonderful Indian meal to complete the day, and headed back to my hotel, surrounded by Alpacas and rabbits.
What A Day!!!
